I'm having one of those weeks where I'm really noticing the stages that Ava is going through and it's making me sad! Could this have anything to do with the fact that she will be testing for a pre-school class next week and if all goes as planned, she will start preschool on AUGUST 6!!! What!?! It's a 5 day a week program and she will most likely go to the early morning group. I'm excited because I feel that she really needs a challenge and some further social interaction but MAN it's making me a little weepy!!
And another stage.....she is asking me this about 30 times a day....."Mom, Whass dat?". If she's in the mood to answer her own question she will cock her head to the right, tap her index finger on her closed lips and say "hhmmmm?" as she contemplates, then she'll tell me what she thinks "it" is! This has me rolling! For everything else, I better be paying attention or she'll yell in my direction, "Mom, look ah me". It's so great!
I guess the rest of the little things I'm noticing aren't so much stages as they are just plane progress. She is all over the house, going up and down the stairs without caring where we are. She's been singing a lot lately. It amazes me how few times she can here something and then sing it to me. She is also very into putting in her own words to her favorite songs. This is just pure genius in my book. It's a real crack up when you here who is "on the farm" today. Or she will make up her own words to the Elmo's World tune.
In other news....We will be attending our 3rd (this week) Allergy appointment tomorrow and it looks like Ava is allergic to Corn. There is one other food allergy but I forgot what it was. She had to where this bandage thing on her back for a couple of days, that came off today (and let me tell you, holding her down for that was a serious upper body workout!!!). then they wait and 'read' her back tomorrow but they could tell immediately that she had a reaction to corn. I've been doing a little research and although I will be very happy to have an answer, this is going to make my life very interesting!!! You would NOT believe how many products have corn or a corn derivative....not to mention animals who eat corn! Obviously there are varying degrees of all Allergies but this might be what is causing her GI problems! Looks like I will be reading a lot this weekend! I will keep you posted as to the other findings. I'm still shocked as to what I'm reading about corn!!!
Our sweet girl has been through more than I can imagine but she is so brave and such an amazing little person. We have been so blessed and I wouldn't change this life we have with her for anything!
Ken told me last evening that Ava is allergic to corn...I could right away think of so many things that have a corn product in it. It will be a challenge, but, oh how great if it solves her GI problems ! ! ! I love you all, can't wait to see the new house. Love, Grandma Margaret
